Gamma Aminobutyric Acid factory

Gamma aminobutyric acid (abbreviated as GABA) , found in the brain of animals, is a widely distributed amino acid that acts as a major inhibitory neurotransmitter. GABA is mainly absorbed in the small intestine and is transported by two pathways, active absorption with sodium energy consumption and γ-glutamyl cycle. The GABA binds to its receptors, causing more chloride ions to flow into the cell from outside the cell and reducing the excitability of the Neuron. A lack of GABA can lead to too much stress or excitement, which can lead to restlessness, anxiety, depression and fatigue.
